The competition for “first page listings” is increasing every day and the time. The most challenging position can be achieved only through knowledge. Optimizing your web site to rank in the organic (free) listings in the major search engines like Google, Yahoo, and MSN will offer your company the greatest ROI on its advertising through lots and lots of customers per day.
Optimizing any site requires good keyword rich content, links from other respected sites and a site structure that can be spidered by the search engines. You can use lynx view from RankQuest and have a watch on how your site is being spidered. Finally to say in a single sentence, a search engine friendly site is a well organized site with lots of good content.

How true. It is hard sometimes to convice a client who wants a nice minimalist site that unless their prospective customers find the site, they cannot be impressed by its nice packaging. And having seen how pretty it looks, if the box is empty they won’t be back!
